Privacy Policy
Arrow Tempo ("we", "us", "the app") is an archery practice tracker for Apple Watch and iPhone, and for Android phones and Wear OS watches, operated by Arrow Tempo ("the developer"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Arrow Tempo has no user accounts — there is nothing to sign up for and we hold no login or profile data.
1. Data we collect
- Practice data you create — sessions, arrow counts, scores, ends, distances, bow setups, notes, and tags.
- Health & motion data — heart rate and workout/motion samples read from Apple HealthKit (iOS/watchOS) or Health Connect (Android) during a session, plus draw-hold timings derived on-device. We only read the data types you grant in the HealthKit or Health Connect permission sheet.
- Microphone audio — your watch (Apple Watch or Wear OS) uses the microphone only during an active recording session to detect the sound of a release. Audio is processed on-device in real time and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- Purchase data — your subscription status, provided by the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). If you buy Lifetime Premium on our website, we also store the App User ID you enter, the transaction reference, amount, and platform in our database. Payment itself is handled by the store or, for website purchases, by Paddle — we never see your payment card details.
- Diagnostics — anonymous crash reports and basic usage events (e.g. "session completed") if you leave analytics enabled. No practice content is included.
- Camera training photos (optional, off by default) — if you turn on training-data sharing, the target-face photos you score and the corrections you make. Nothing is uploaded unless you enable it; see Section 2.
- Waitlist & beta email (if you sign up) — the email address you submit on our website to join the iOS beta or the Android waitlist, plus, for the Android waitlist, an optional smartwatch model. Used only to email you about that program.
2. Optional: camera training data
Arrow Tempo includes an optional camera scoring feature that detects and scores your arrows from a photo of the target face. To help us improve this automatic detection, you can choose to share the photos you score together with the corrections you make. This sharing is off by default — nothing is uploaded unless you turn on "Help improve detection" (when first prompted, or in the app's Settings), and you can turn it off again at any time.
When — and only when — sharing is enabled, we receive:
- the photo of the target face you scored;
- the app's detected arrows and the score and position corrections you made;
- basic context — target-face type, distance, and the app and model version — plus a random sample reference.
We strip location and other photo metadata before upload, and the data we receive contains no name, email, account, or device identifier. These photos are ones you capture for scoring; we use them solely to train and evaluate our arrow-detection model. We do not sell them, use them for advertising, or share them with third parties for their own purposes. To request deletion of data you have contributed, email support@arrowtempo.com with the date(s) you used camera scoring and we will remove the corresponding samples.
3. How we use it
- To run the app's features — counting arrows, charting heart rate and hold time, scoring, heatmaps, and history.
- To sync your data between your devices and, if enabled, your private iCloud account (Apple) or your Google account backup (Android).
- To improve automatic camera scoring, using the training photos and corrections you choose to share (Section 2).
- To provide support, fix bugs, and improve the app.
- To process and restore purchases.
- To pay creators for referrals and show them how their referral code is performing (Section 4).
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.
4. Referral codes & creator reporting
If you subscribed by redeeming a creator's referral offer code, we show a limited record of that subscription to the creator whose code you used — on a private page on this site, visible only to them — so they can be paid and see how their referrals are doing. That record contains no name, no email, no account and no device identifier. It is limited to: a random token that stands in for you (derived so that the same person cannot be matched across different creators), your country, which plan you are on, whether the subscription is on trial, paid, cancelled or expired, the start and expiry dates rounded to the day, and the amount paid. Nothing you record in the app — sessions, scores, health data, photos — is ever included, and creators receive nothing about anyone who did not use their code.
5. Where your data lives
Your practice data is stored on your device and, on Apple devices, if you enable iCloud sync, in your personal iCloud account (encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple). On Android, if device backup is on, a copy is held in your own Google account via Android Auto Backup / Google Drive (encrypted by Google, and on Android 9+ with a key derived from your device lock screen that Google cannot read). Health data stays in Apple Health or Health Connect and is read into the app under the permissions you grant; you can revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health (iOS) or Settings → Security & privacy → Health Connect (Android). Camera training data you choose to share (Section 2) is uploaded to our storage hosted by Cloudflare (R2) and held under contractual data-protection terms; it is the only practice-related content stored on our own servers.
6. Third parties
We use a small number of service providers strictly to operate the app, which may include:
- Apple — App Store, iCloud, HealthKit, StoreKit.
- Google — Google Play, Play Billing, Health Connect, and Android Auto Backup / Google Drive.
- RevenueCat — to manage and report on purchases across the App Store, Google Play, and our website. Receives your purchase events and the subscription identifier your device is known by, never your name or email.
- Paddle — our reseller and merchant of record for Lifetime Premium purchases made on our website. Paddle processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy; we receive the transaction record and the App User ID you entered, never your card details.
- Cloudflare — object storage (R2) for camera training data you choose to share, and a database (D1) for emails you submit to our beta or waitlist forms.
- Crash/analytics provider — to receive anonymised crash and usage diagnostics (only if analytics is enabled).
These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. The one exception is described in Section 4: creators whose referral code you redeemed receive the limited, pseudonymised subscription record set out there, and use it for their own reporting and payment.
7. Your choices & rights
- Decline or revoke health and microphone permissions in iOS/watchOS Settings, or in Android Settings (Apps → Arrow Tempo → Permissions, and Security & privacy → Health Connect).
- Turn camera training-data sharing on or off at any time in the app's Settings ("Help improve detection"); it is off by default.
- Turn off optional analytics in the app's Settings.
- Export your sessions from within the app.
- Delete your data: deleting the app removes on-device data; disabling iCloud sync and deleting the app's data in iCloud, or deleting the app's backup from your Google account, removes the backed-up copy; email us to delete camera training data you have shared.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.
8. Children
Arrow Tempo is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data retention
Your practice data stays on your device (and in your iCloud or Google account backup, if that is on) for as long as you keep the app installed; deleting the app and its iCloud or Google backup data removes it. The data we hold on our own servers is limited to the camera training data you choose to share (Section 2) and any email you submit to our beta or waitlist forms. We keep training data to improve our detection model, keep beta/waitlist emails until the program ends or you ask to be removed, and delete either on request. The creator reports in Section 4 are rebuilt from our records each day and kept for as long as the referral partnership runs; when it ends, the creator's copy is removed.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a revised "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
